With Meeting replay turned on in the Meetings tab of your settings, Vega keeps the video of your recorded meetings. You can watch it next to the transcript on the meeting page.
This setting is off by default and is available on both Core and Pro. It is a personal setting: each user turns it on for themselves, and there is no firm-wide switch.
Video can capture faces, shared screens, and account details, and Vega does not redact it. We recommend agreeing on an approach with your compliance team before you turn it on.
Turn it on
Go to the Meetings tab of your Vega settings.
Scroll to Meeting recordings.
Turn on Save meeting videos.
Click Save.
Which meetings can have a video
How the meeting was recorded | Video saved? |
Vega recording bot on Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams | Yes |
Direct Zoom integration | Yes, when the meeting is recorded to the Zoom cloud with Create audio transcript turned on in Zoom, and Zoom produces a video file |
Direct Google Meet or Microsoft Teams integration | No |
In-person recordings and phone calls | No |
Uploaded audio or video files | No. An uploaded video file plays as audio only |
If you record through Zoom without the bot, Vega receives the transcript but no audio file. Turning this setting on is what adds a player to those meetings.
Zoom recordings: Vega saves one video per meeting, using the speaker view with the shared screen when Zoom has one. If you stop and restart the recording during a call, the video covers the part that matches the transcript (read article: Zoom).
When the setting applies
The setting applies to meetings recorded after you turn it on. Existing meetings do not get a video.
Whose setting counts: The setting of the person who captured the recording decides, not the setting of everyone in the meeting.
Vega recording bot: The user the bot was sent for. If the bot is on a Zoom meeting, the bot’s recording is the one Vega uses, so this user’s setting also decides for that meeting.
Direct Zoom integration: The host who connected Zoom to Vega.
Timing with the bot: Vega reads the setting when the bot is added to a meeting.
Auto join meetings: The bot is added up to about 35 minutes before the meeting, so turn the setting on at least 35 minutes ahead.
Added manually: If you added the bot before turning the setting on, remove it and add it again to get a video (read article: Bot recordings for virtual meetings).
Watch or download a video
Open the meeting in the Vega web app and go to the Analytics tab. When a meeting has a video, it plays next to the transcript, in place of the audio player. Videos are not available in the iOS and Android apps.
Jump to a moment: Click the time on a transcript line to play from there.
Change the speed: Click 1x to move between 0.5x and 2x.
Watch larger: Expand the transcript to read and watch side by side, or use the full screen button.
Download: Click the three dots at the top of the transcript and select Download video. Videos are large files, roughly 1 GB per hour of meeting.
On Pro, links in Meeting analytics take the video to the linked moment, which is useful for coaching.
Anyone who can open the meeting in Vega can watch and download its video, the same as its transcript.
How long videos are kept
A saved video stays in Vega until it is deleted. It does not expire on its own unless your firm has turned on auto-delete.
Firm-wide: auto-delete
Users with admin permissions can set a retention policy in the Settings tab of the Firm page, under Meeting assets. Turn on Auto-delete transcripts and recordings and choose how long to keep them: 0, 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 180, or 365 days.
Videos are included: “Recordings” covers both audio and video, for every user at your firm.
There is one window: Transcripts, audio, and video are deleted together. You cannot keep transcripts longer than videos.
Age is counted from the meeting date: Deletion runs nightly. When you turn it on or shorten the window, meetings already past the new age are deleted in the next run.
0 days keeps nothing: A video is removed in the next run after the meeting, so there is little reason to save videos at this setting.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone (read article: Settings).
One meeting: delete it yourself
On the Analytics tab, click the three dots at the top of the transcript and select the delete option. It names what the meeting has, for example Delete transcript, audio and video. Anyone with access to the meeting can do this.
The transcript, audio, and video are deleted together. You cannot delete only the video and keep the transcript.
The meeting’s notes stay.
This cannot be undone.
To remove a video for good, use this option before deleting the meeting itself. Deleting a meeting does not run this step on its own, although your firm’s auto-delete still covers deleted meetings.
Turning the setting off
Turning off S
ave meeting videos stops new videos from being saved. Videos you already saved stay until they are deleted. If you turn it off before a bot’s video has finished processing, that video is not saved.
Copies outside Vega
Vega’s deletion only applies to what is stored in Vega. Videos you downloaded, and recordings in your Zoom cloud, are not affected. Follow your firm’s policy for those copies.
Why doesn’t my meeting have a video?
The meeting was recorded before the setting was on, or the bot was added before the setting was on.
You forgot to click Save after turning on the setting.
A colleague’s bot recorded the meeting, and their setting is off.
The meeting was recorded through a source that does not support video, such as the direct Google Meet or Microsoft Teams integration, an in-person recording, or a phone call.
The Zoom meeting was not recorded to the cloud, or Create audio transcript is off in Zoom. Vega saves the video when the Zoom transcript arrives, so no transcript means no video.
The video was removed by your firm’s auto-delete policy or by someone with access to the meeting.
